Cultural Diference webquest


 

 

Many of the world problems come from misunderstanding each other. Misunderstanding comes from not knowing the values and importance of differences. We are different because of our education, social standing, religious beliefs, personality, or simply our belief structure. Some or all of these elements come from where we were born, the culture we belong to, which shapes the way we live,defines the food we eat the , wear the cloths we wear, and speak the way we speak.

Beside general human standards, differences exixt between people and culturein the world, even in a nation. In some cultures, you have to greet before work in the morning, in some we do not have to; Some cultures required that we stand up for a woman who approaches a table, yield a seat on the bus to an older person, in some others it is not a big deal. Do these differences mean your culture is better than mine? In this exercise we are going to answer the question.

It is better to have an good understading of cultural and ideological differences in our young, and adult life. Learning about culture, customs and ways of others will stop us from stereotyping. Stereotyping can have intense negative effects in the way we interact as humans. These differences between cultures and peoples are real and can add richness to the fabric of life.

In this WebQuest, you are about to discover cultures of people who were not born on the same continent than you. You are about to land on a continent you did not know before, choose a country on that continent, and discover, the language, the food, the games, the dresses, the school and tell me how are these cultures and ways different from your country of origin, and picture a world without these differences; what would happen if we were all from the same country, spoke same language, eat same food, cloth the same way?

So ready pick your group head to the airport and land in an unknown country and begin your journey.
